About

For 40 years, United Way of Mat-Su has risen to meet the emerging needs of Mat-Su residents across the Mat-Su Borough. United Way of Mat-Su envisions a community where all residents have meaningful opportunities, comprehensive and compassionate treatment, direct resources, and can achieve their highest potential. Our annual programs, including Stuff the Bus Back-To-School Fair, Week of Caring volunteer deployment, Project Homeless Connect, and Play 60 with the Seattle Seahawks support Valley residents of all ages. UMWS is proud to offer grants to Mat-Su based nonprofits with our Community Grants program. In 2026, thanks to the generosity of donors like those giving via Pick.Click.Give, we were able to distribute $50000 in funds to local agencies. As the coordinator of Thrive Mat-Su Coalition and Mat-Su VOAD, UWMS organizes efforts in youth programming and disaster response/preparedness for our neighbors and friends. Based on the Icelandic Model of prevention, our Youth 360 program offers free, fun afterschool clubs for youth and teens. UWMS supports families with children age 5 and under throughout the Borough. Our Mat-Su Valley Resource Guide series, consisting of the Mat-Su Valley Resource Guide, Healthy Aging Guide and Pocket Guide distributes over 10,000 copies around the Borough annually, providing print resources to anyone in need. We are honored to continue serving all Mat-Su residents as we work to show everyone that United is the Way.

How Pick.Click.Give. makes a difference

Donations from our Pick.Click.Give supporters directly support our annual programs and services, such as Stuff the Bus Back-to-School Fair. Without the ongoing commitment of Pick.Click.Give donors, our ability to serve all Mat-Su residents would be greatly diminished. We continue to grow our presence in the Healthy Aging (seniors ages 55+) and Early Childhood (children age 5 and under) spaces and look forward to expanding these programs.
Funds raised through Pick.Click.Give will help us to increase our outreach to older Alaskans, particularly by expanding distribution of our Healthy Aging Guide, while maintaining the widely-used Mat-Su Valley Resource Guide and Pocket Guides. Contributions will also help us to sustain our programs for children ages 5 and under.
United Way of Mat-Su stands firm on the idea that great things happen when we come together around a common goal. By sharing our time, voice and resources, we can make a difference. Support that we receive as a result of Pick.Click.Give. goes directly into the Mat-Su community to help create a happy, healthy community for us all.
