About
FYA (The Door) - An emergency shelter to youth aged 6-18 with a safe place to sleep, home cooked meals, clothing, educational and vocational support, and connections to community resources to help youth find stability. Additionally, FYA offers drop-in and supportive services to youth not in our care, but in need or resources. FYA (Evolve) - Homelessness among young adults is a complex issue influenced by various factors. Many have faced significant hardships, family instability, mental health challenges, and limited access to education and employment opportunities. As a result, they often find themselves in precarious living situations, struggling to make ends meet. Evolve is a program designed to address the gap among 18-24 year-olds in Fairbanks. Our mission is to provide transitional support that empowers them to achieve stability and independence. FYA also provides prevention, education, and outreach services addressing issues that place youth at greater risk, including homelessness, human trafficking and exploitation, sexual and relationship violence, substance use, and other safety concerns.

Fairbanks Youth Advocates (FYA) serves youth ages 6–24 during some of their most vulnerable moments. Funds received through Pick.Click.Give. will directly support the everyday needs that make this work possible. Donations help provide meals, clothing, hygiene supplies, transportation, educational support, recreational and life-skills activities, and other essentials for youth staying in our shelter or participating in our transitional services. They also help us respond to needs that cannot always be anticipated or covered by restricted grant funding.Our work continues to evolve because the needs of Interior Alaska’s youth continue to change. Behind every statistic is a kid with a different story. Sometimes success means helping siblings remain together. Sometimes it means reuniting a child with family or finding a safe placement. Sometimes it is helping a transitional youth who has been sleeping in a vehicle finally move into a home of their own.

Every contribution, regardless of size, helps us keep our doors open, our table full, and our services available when a young person needs them most. In one of Alaska’s coldest communities, having somewhere safe to turn is not simply a convenience—it can be a lifeline.
