The Orthodox Diocese of Sitka and Alaska is a 501(c)(3) Orthodox Christian organization serving the faithful of Alaska and stewarding the heritage of the historic Alaskan Church. Rooted in the mission first brought to this land by the Valaam missionaries and sanctified by the Alaskan saints, the Diocese continues the living tradition of Orthodox Christianity in every region of our state. Our work centers on education, cultural preservation, and pastoral support. We serve the Orthodox communities of Alaska through clergy formation, youth and family programs, parish development, and resources that strengthen the spiritual life of our people. The Diocese is also entrusted with safeguarding and celebrating the unique Orthodox traditions, sacred music, and Native languages that have flourished here for more than two centuries. While our Church remains steadfast in proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ, our public-facing labors focus on supporting the cultural, historical, and educational mission of Orthodoxy in Alaska—ensuring that the treasures handed down by the first peoples and early missionaries of Alaska continue to inspire and uplift future generations. The Diocese welcomes all who wish to learn from, participate in, or support this enduring spiritual and cultural legacy.
