When law enforcement or child protective services believe a child may be experiencing abuse, The Children’s Place is here. Children are brought to our Child Advocacy Center—a safe, child-focused environment—by a caregiver or another trusted adult. Here, they only need to share their story once, with a specially trained interviewer who knows how to ask questions in a way that supports healing rather than causing further trauma. At The Children’s Place, we bring together a team of professionals—law enforcement, child protective services, medical providers, mental health specialists, and advocates—so children and families receive the coordinated care and support they deserve. Our role is to ensure each child is heard, protected, and guided toward hope and healing. We exist to protect children, seek justice, and empower our community through child advocacy—because every child deserves safety, compassion, and the chance to thrive.

We are the only child advocacy center in the region working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to respond to reports of child sexual abuse, physical abuse, and other forms of maltreatment. In our safe, child-friendly environment, children and their protective caregivers receive the compassionate, coordinated care they need: a legally-sound forensic interview, a specialized medical exam that puts comfort first, and connections to mental health services that support healing.
But we cannot do this work alone. While state and local grants cover part of our costs, nearly half of our funding depends on contributions from generous individuals and businesses in our community. Right now, we are underfunded—making your support more critical than ever.
