About
The Sitka Local Foods Network's mission is to increase the amount of locally produced and harvested food in the diets of the people of Southeast Alaska. We operate the Sitka Farmers Market (started in 2008) and grow food at the St. Peter's Fellowship Farm communal garden. Since 2024, we have been working closely with another local nonprofit to support the development of the Jarvis Street Community Garden on a ½-acre parcel leased from the City and Borough of Sitka.
How Pick.Click.Give. makes a difference
Pick.Click.Give. funds will be used primarily to support the St. Peter's Fellowship Farm, a communal garden that uses sustainable gardening practices. It is one of the main sources of locally grown produce available for purchase at the Sitka Farmers Market during summer months. Second, funds will be used to support the Sitka Farmers Market program of offering up to $20 per market to low income SNAP and WIC beneficiaries who shop for eligible foods at our market tables. Third, the funds help us offer a spring garden education program that provides free or nearly free classes to encourage more Sitka residents to grow their own food. Finally, these resources will allow the organization to continue to improve the infrastructure of our vibrant organization through development of plans for staffing, fundraising, communications and programming.
