The Pratt Museum explores and preserves the culture, science, and art of the Kachemak Bay Region.

About

The Pratt Museum has been a cornerstone of the Southern Kenai Peninsula community since opening in 1968. Our exhibits are carefully designed to feature materials from our collections, weaving art, culture, science, and history together to share the stories of the region. We serve as a gathering place, and our nine-acre campus includes both outdoor exhibits - a botanical garden, homestead garden, and historic homestead cabin - and a trail system winding through a thriving coastal rainforest, connecting local schools, the business district, and several neighborhoods, offering accessible walking options for community members. We strive to strengthen the interconnected relationships between people and place by sharing and preserving stories and materials relevant to the communities of Kachemak Bay. Our vision reflects our sense of place within our community; collaborative and inclusive.

How Pick.Click.Give. makes a difference

Funds from Pick.Click.Give. support the Pratt Museum's nationally recognized education programs. Underwriting support for these education programs also helps ensure that general admission prices remain affordable to visitors.

Young people especially depend on the Pratt Museum for year-round programs that inspire, challenge, ignite curiosity, and promote lifelong learning. Affordable learning opportunities are provided to young people who might not otherwise have the opportunity to sample a local stream for aquatic insects, explore winter adaptations in a spruce forest, deliver an "Object at Hand" program about a collections object to visitors, create original art, or conduct fieldwork at a remote archaeological site. Each of the Pratt Museum's educational programs helps build skills in leadership and public speaking, promotes cultural pride, and increases knowledge in the sciences, arts, and humanities.

EDUCATOR SUPPORT
The Pratt Museum supports educators and student outcomes with a targeted approach, managing a Pratt Advisory Committee on Education (PACE) that meets monthly, as well as two Educator Evenings each school year. The Museum has thousands of natural and cultural history materials to share with educators and lifelong learners in its Education Collection. From traveling kits with digital resource guides to a Pratt Museum Collection public access site, educators are sure to find something unique and interesting to share with their students.
