About
For more than 40 years, NAMI Fairbanks has helped people throughout Interior Alaska find hope, understanding, and connection. We are a local affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization. Guided by lived experience, we provide free peer support groups, education, resource navigation, youth outreach, community presentations, and advocacy for individuals living with mental health conditions and the people who care about them. We help people better understand mental health, find local resources, support a loved one, and know they do not have to face mental illness alone. We envision a thriving, compassionate community where mental health is supported, recovery is possible, effective help is accessible, and every person is treated with dignity and cultural respect. NAMI Fairbanks works with partners across the Interior to strengthen mental health education and response. Key partnerships include Crisis Intervention Team training for law enforcement, the Fairbanks Crisis Now initiative, the Fairbanks Pediatric Behavioral Health Workgroup, the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District, and the Fairbanks Correctional Center reentry education program. We also collaborate with nonprofits, civic groups, and other community partners to make mental health information and support more accessible.
How Pick.Click.Give. makes a difference
Your Pick.Click.Give. pledge can become the moment someone in Interior Alaska realizes they do not have to face a mental health challenge alone. It may begin when a person calls NAMI Fairbanks looking for help. A caring person listens, shares reliable local resources, and helps them identify a next step. It may happen when a family member joins a free support group and meets people who understand. It may reach a student who learns how to recognize warning signs, ask for help, and support a friend. It may help prepare a law enforcement officer to respond to a mental health crisis with greater understanding and skill.
When you choose NAMI Fairbanks, you help keep these connections available close to home. Pick.Click.Give. funds strengthen the local foundation behind our work: trained staff and volunteers, an accessible community space, reliable technology, educational materials, and the capacity to coordinate programs and partnerships across the Interior. These essentials allow us to:
• Keep our HelpLine and resource navigation available.
• Offer free peer support groups, classes, and community education.
• Bring mental health education to middle and high school students and their families.
• Strengthen Crisis Intervention Team training for law enforcement.
• Advocate for mental health services and systems that respond with dignity and compassion.
Every pledge becomes part of this work. When combined with gifts from other Alaskans:
• $25 helps provide resource guides and educational materials.
• $50 helps keep local information and support within reach.
• $100 helps bring mental health education into a classroom or community setting.
• $250 helps strengthen training for volunteers, presenters, or community partners.
• $500 helps sustain the people and infrastructure that keep free programs available.
You do not have to fund an entire program to make a meaningful difference. By sharing part of your PFD, you can be the neighbor who helps someone find understanding, connection, and hope when it matters most.
Pick. Click. Give. Choose NAMI Fairbanks—and help keep mental health support local.
