Kin Support Program Haa Yatx'u Saani

Juneau, AK • EIN: 93-4231224

When relatives step in to care for children in Southeast AK, we offer advocacy and legal support for the whole family.

About

Haa Yátx'u Sáani (ha yut koo saw knee) means "our precious children" in Lingít. We support grandparents, aunties, uncles, siblings, and other relatives who step in to raise children when parents cannot. We focus on families caring for children outside the state foster care system, whose needs are often invisible. Our team of Family Specialists, a Kin Attorney, and a Parent Attorney help with the financial, cultural, educational, emotional, and legal supports that families need to keep kids healthy and safe, and independent from the system. We serve all families in Southeast regardless of finances or background.

How Pick.Click.Give. makes a difference

Pick.Click.Give gifts help support families in ways that grants cannot.

Since August 2024, we've worked with over 100 kinship families across Southeast Alaska. We help caregivers, parents, and children in kinship care find resources, get free legal representation, and engage in cultural education and activities. We help families make connections with one another, and with longstanding cultural traditions of kinship care. Kinship navigator services like ours are a proven strategy to prevent child abuse and neglect, and keep families together.

Your PFD pledge helps provide direct support to families experiencing financial hardship, and to keeping our grassroots agency going. Thank you for helping Southeast Alaska children stay connected to their families and culture.
