About
KHNS is a listener supported, community-based public radio station serving the northern Alaskan Panhandle communities of Haines, Skagway and Klukwan along upper Lynn Canal. Broadcasting since October 1980 under the banner of Lynn Canal Broadcasting, Inc. (a federally recognized 501c3 nonprofit organization), KHNS provides a wide array of live, local and nationally syndicated programs for residents, visitors and listeners streaming worldwide via khns.org. We produce local newscasts and broadcast state, national and international news programs and a wide variety of music courtesy of volunteer deejays trained in-house. KHNS is an essential local resource for emergency information, and features live local sports broadcasts and weekday morning interview programs covering health, nonprofit work, history, safety, gardening, avalanche awareness and library activities. KHNS is an affiliate of the Alaska Public Radio Network, PRX and National Public Radio, and a founding member of Community Radio of Alaska.

Pick.Click.Give. gifts are an important part of the KHNS "Extras" Fund that helps cover technical upgrades, equipment replacement and the services of specialized broadcast professionals. These funds help KHNS incorporate innovative new technology into our broadcast operations and maintain two studios separated by 14 nautical miles of Lynn Canal. Pick.Click.Give gives our annual budget some breathing room, and we're very grateful to everyone using this valuable program to support the organizations they love!
