About
For more than 45 years, Hospice of Anchorage has helped individuals and families face the realities of terminal diagnosis, dying, and grief. As the only non‑profit, volunteer‑driven, non‑medical hospice in the municipality, we fill a unique and essential gap by supporting anyone with a terminal diagnosis, without requiring a six‑month prognosis. Our team walks alongside each client with practical end-of-life support, emotional presence, and companionship, all while they negotiate their chosen path. When needs fall outside our scope, we connect individuals to trusted community resources. Our work is deeply human, rooted in the belief that these moments deserve to be acknowledged, honored, and talked about so that people may live more fully. We are here to be a steady presence through it all, ensuring no one has to navigate these experiences alone. Hospice of Anchorage support may include any or all of the following: -clinical consultations for initial and periodic assessment and education regarding symptom management and end-of-life care -client and family end-of-life education -assistance with insurance, financial and legal matters, and advance directives (living will, durable power of attorney, and POLST) -trained volunteer assistance and support -emotional and spiritual support -bereavement and grief support -community resources and referrals -public and professional education on end-of-life and palliative care issues

Trained staff and volunteers provide emotional support, companionship, caregiver education, grief counseling, and practical resources that help families feel less alone and better supported as they navigate serious illness and loss. We also offer specialized grief-support groups and community education to help individuals cope with loss long after a death has occurred.
Unlike traditional hospice programs, Hospice of Anchorage serves people who may not qualify for or be ready for medical hospice care.
