The Breast Cancer Detection Center of Alaska (BCDC) was founded in Fairbanks in 1976 with a clear and compassionate mission: to increase awareness of the survivability of breast cancer and the benefits of early detection by delivering screening services and educational programs throughout Alaska. For nearly five decades, BCDC has been at the forefront of community-based breast health, providing access to life-saving mammograms and education to thousands of Alaskans. Our dedicated staff serves patients in Fairbanks and brings services directly to remote and underserved communities through our mobile mammography program. We recognize the unique challenges of geography, weather, and limited healthcare resources in Alaska, and we are committed to ensuring that every person has the opportunity to receive timely screening, regardless of where they live. BCDC believes that no one should face barriers when it comes to their breast health. We proudly serve all patients, regardless of their financial ability to pay, and offer financial assistance for those in need. Sustained through grants, donations, and strong community partnerships, our work ensures that Alaskans are not left behind in the fight against breast cancer. With every screening, educational program, and outreach effort, we reaffirm our belief that early detection saves lives.
