How Pick.Click.Give. makes a difference
Community support makes all the difference. Pick Click Give makes a difference. You make a difference at the Bread Line.
Local donations like yours allow the Bread Line's anti-hunger work to be possible. In 2024, we served over 66,603 free meals to Fairbanks' neighbors in need. Right now, more people need our services than ever before. We need your help to meet this growing need.
Through the generosity of Alaskans, the Bread Line feeds anyone who is hungry, without question. Our guests include people who are homeless or housing insecure, some struggling with untreated mental illnesses, traumatic brain injuries or chronic substance use disorders. We also serve low-income individuals and those who have suffered a devastating loss that left them without food security. Some we serve have been released from incarceration back into poverty. There are seniors who come here who make daily choices between bills and food. Some of our guests are laborers, between jobs, or in the ongoing economic crisis, struggling to find employment at all. Everyone is welcome at the Bread Line. Our unofficial motto is "love all, serve all" and - with your help - we do.
The Bread Line operates anti-hunger programs that feed those in need while providing paths to self-sufficiency: Stone Soup Cafe provides hot, nutritious meals every weekday as well as cold sack lunches to go; Stone's Throw culinary job training program empowers people with barriers to employment by teaching job and life skills in an intensive twelve-week class; during the summer, the Stone Soup Community Garden grows healthy vegetables and provides fresh greens to several downtown assisted living facilities; June through September, Bread Line partners with Calypso Farm for our Community Meals project which provides over 150 free weekly meals made with local produce sourced from and served at the Southside Community Market.
All funds that come to us through Pick.Click.Give. are designated for operations - the things that are critical to this mission. Your donation helps purchase food and supplies, fuel oil and electricity - everything that keeps our doors open and the dining room warm five days a week, every week of the year.
