The Bread Line is an anti-hunger organization, that has been serving the Interior of Alaska since 1984. Bread Line “feeds people & affirms lives” through five connected programs: the Stone Soup Cafe, Stone’s Throw culinary job training program, Stone Soup Community Garden, Kid's Cafe & Community Meals project. With the ongoing & dedicated support of Alaskans we are making a difference in the commUNITY.
How Pick.Click.Give. makes a difference
Community generosity makes the difference in the Bread Line's ability to meet a growing need. Pick Click Give makes a difference. You make a difference at the Bread Line.
Local donations, like yours, allow the Bread Line's work to be possible. In 2025, volunteers at the Bread Line's soup kitchen served over 73,580 free meals to Fairbanks' neighbors in need - a 10% increase over the previous year's record breaking numbers. Right now, more Alaskans need our help than ever before.
Through the generosity of Alaskans, the Bread Line feeds anyone who is hungry, without question. Our guests include people who are homeless or housing insecure, some struggling with untreated mental illnesses, traumatic brain injuries or chronic substance use disorders. We also serve low-income individuals and those who have suffered a devastating loss that left them without food security. Some we serve have been released from incarceration back into poverty. There are seniors who come here who make daily choices between bills & food. Some of our guests are laborers, between jobs, or in the ongoing economic crisis, struggling to find employment at all. Everyone is welcome at the Bread Line. Our unofficial motto is "love all, serve all" & - with your help - we do.
The Bread Line operates anti-hunger programs that feed those in need while paving paths to employment. The Stone Soup Cafe soup kitchen provides nutritious & delicious meals every weekday; the Stone's Throw culinary job training program empowers people with barriers to employment by teaching job & life skills; Kid's Cafe connects local youth to culinary opportunity; & the Stone Soup Community Garden grows healthy vegetables in downtown Fairbanks where anyone can access fresh produce. In the summer, Bread Line partners with Calypso Farm on the Community Meals project, providing thousands of free meals across the summer, made with local produce sourced from and served at the Southside Community Market.
All funds that come to us through Pick.Click.Give. support the Bread Line's general operations - the costs critical to this mission. Your donation helps purchase food & supplies, fuel oil & electricity - everything that keeps our doors open & the dining room warm five days a week, every week of the year.
