Our mission is to improve the lives of dogs living outside in Alaska in any way possible.
About
Straw For Dogs promotes quality care taking and provides supplies and resources to promote the welfare of and quality of life for dogs in Alaska, through education, community outreach, rescue, and adoption/rehoming. We provide double walled and insulated houses and straw for those dogs who are living outside in Alaska. Many of these dogs live in rural communities which are only accessible by air or boat. While we at Straw For Dogs are not of the mindset that dogs should live outside in the cold away from their families, the reality is that many do. Even with a dog house and straw these living conditions are far from ideal. We continue to encourage people to bring their dogs inside (at least periodically for love and socialization), walk them, and play with them. We offer supplies to help with this as well. Sending our insulated dog houses and straw is the most immediate action we can take to provide a little relief to dogs who would otherwise be suffering in the elements with no shelter at all.

Straw For Dogs is a 100% volunteer run nonprofit organization. Our success depends on our volunteers and community support. All of our funding comes from donations, fundraising, grants, and programs like Pick. Click. Give. Every penny that we receive goes directly to improving the lives of the dogs living outside in Alaska, we have no paid positions.Pick.Click.Give. is an amazing program and we are honored to be a part of this unique Alaskan experience. We can focus on our mission to help dogs in Alaska while raising funds through PCG. Pick.Click.Give. helps people contribute to nonprofits that mean something to them by making it easy and accessible.
