NAMI Fairbanks supports, educates, & advocates for people living with mental illness & their families, friends & caregivers.

About

NAMI Fairbanks is an affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the nation's largest grass-roots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans living with mental illness. 1 in 5 adults in the US (including Alaska) experience a mental illness, and less than half receive the help they need. For over 40 years, NAMI Fairbanks has been providing support, education, and advocacy for people experiencing psychiatric disabilities, their families, friends, and interested community members. NAMI Fairbanks envisions a community that promotes mental health, recovery from mental illness, access to treatment with a caring attitude and cultural sensitivity for all who are affected by mental illness, and elimination of the stigma associated with any mental health condition. It believes in working together to build a thriving, compassionate community that knows how to help when someone they care about is experiencing mental illness. It is a trusted partner in: • The Fairbanks Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training for police officers • The Fairbanks Crisis Now initiative advancing mental health crisis response • The Fairbanks Pediatric Behavioral Health Workgroup, addressing children’s mental health • The FNSB School District, bringing mental health education and resources to all middle and high school students in the district • The Fairbanks Correctional Center, bringing mental health information to the reentry education program

How Pick.Click.Give. makes a difference

Your Pick.Click.Give donation can help NAMI Fairbanks continue to anchor Fairbanks’ mental health response system, strengthen youth education, and be a steady voice for policy and systems change.
NAMI Fairbanks’ most urgent and tangible need is operational sustainability—the ability to fund staffing, rent, technology, and administrative capacity.
Operational stability allows us to:
• Sustain the Helpline: Ensure our free, confidential support line continues to connect people to mental health resources.
• Train More Officers: Expand Crisis Intervention Team training to better equip law enforcement in responding to mental health crises.
• Reach 4,500 Students: Provide mental health education and resources across every middle and high school in the Fairbanks North Star Borough.
• Advance Policy Change: Provide the staff capacity to advocate effectively at the local, state, and federal level.
• Strengthen Community Programs: Keep support groups, classes, and outreach events accessible at no cost to the public.
A Tangible Investment:
• $25 provides printed mental health resource guides for 10 families seeking support.
• $50 ensures one week of helpline coverage, connecting callers with vital resources.
• $100 supplies materials for a classroom presentation, reaching 25 students with mental health education.
• $250 equips one police officer with Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training, strengthening our community’s crisis response.
With your donation, together, we can ensure the Interior has a lasting foundation for mental health support—one that is stable, measurable, and deeply impactful!
