Protecting the Kenai Peninsula’s Streams & Salmon — With Your Help

About

The Kenai Watershed Forum (KWF) is dedicated to maintaining the health of the watersheds on the Kenai Peninsula. Recognized as the regional watershed organization for the Peninsula, KWF successfully identifies and addresses the needs of our region through high-quality education, restoration, and research programs. Since 1997, we’ve brought together neighbors, businesses, tribes, and agencies to ensure healthy watersheds that sustain fish, wildlife, and people. From coordinating the award-winning Stream Watch volunteer program, to restoring salmon habitat, to inspiring youth through hands-on education, we combine science, collaboration, and community action to care for the waters that define our home. You’ll also find us out in the community — hosting the annual Run for the River and the Salmon Run Series, and connecting with neighbors each summer at Wednesday in the Park. These events keep our community active, engaged, and united around healthy rivers. We believe that healthy watersheds mean healthy salmon, strong communities, and a lasting way of life on the Kenai.

How Pick.Click.Give. makes a difference

Here are a few of our recent successes that were made possible through generous gifts from people like you:

Stream Watch Success
Our volunteer river protection program continues to grow and thrive, empowering hundreds of volunteers each summer to educate river users, prevent erosion, and remove trash along popular fishing areas. In recognition of its impact, Stream Watch received the U.S. Forest Service’s 2021 Enduring Service Award.

Spectacular Summer Camps
KWF has set the bar high for summer camps. Our day-camp for elementary students expanded to include pop-up day camps that reach families in multiple communities. Kids get to explore rivers, wetlands, and salmon habitat — building the next generation of watershed stewards.

Organizational Excellence
With our passionate staff, dedicated board of directors, talented summer interns, and a strong base of volunteers and members, KWF is poised for continued growth and success across the Kenai Peninsula.

Community Connections
Your support helps us host events that bring people together to celebrate salmon and stay active outdoors. From the annual Run for the River to the summer-long Salmon Run Series and our weekly presence at Wednesday in the Park, we provide opportunities for families, athletes, and neighbors to engage with watershed protection in fun, accessible ways.

Kenai Fish Habitat Partnership Coordination
KWF is leading the development of the Kenai Fish Habitat Partnership, bringing together agencies, tribes, nonprofits, and businesses to raise awareness of fish initiatives, set restoration priorities, and secure congressional support to improve aquatic habitats.

Your support makes all of this possible. Whether through Pick.Click.Give., a financial contribution, a volunteer effort, or a business donation, you keep KWF restoring rivers, protecting salmon habitat, and creating opportunities for our community to connect with the waters that sustain us. Together, we can ensure healthy watersheds, healthy salmon, and a lasting way of life on the Kenai — today and for generations to come.
