The Connection conducts fundraising events throughout the year, including an annual March for Meals (our most involved fundraiser established to raise funds to provide financial assistance for the coninued operation of the Kenai Senior Center food programs); homemade pie/biscuits n' gravy stand during the Fourth of July celebrations; a quilt raffle(s) (quilts donated by seniors); a doll raffle (held between Thanksgiving and Christmas and includes a doll and normally 25 beautifully handmade outfits and donated by a senior); as well as "snack shacks" to complement other smaller events taking place at the Senior Center. During the holiday season, the Connection and Senior Center cooperatively hold toy and food drives. The toys are provided to a local elementary school and then are distributed to school-designated families. The Connection adds fresh fruits to the non-perishable donated foods, all of which are then divided into bags and distributed to designated clients of the Center.
How Pick.Click.Give. makes a difference
While the Kenai Senior Center is under the umbrella of the City of Kenai, it is funded through grants and private donations. Funds received through Pick.Click.Give are added to monies received through fundraisers, silent auctions, split-the-pot, out-cry auctions, as noted above. Those funds are then provided to the City of Kenai to be added to the City's funding toward the Center's food programs. From 2021 to 2025, the Connection Board approved $100,000 donations to the City of Kenai toward the support of the Center's food programs, which then provide scholarship meals for low-income seniors.Contact
