About
Hospice of Anchorage works with the patient and family along with the patient's physician and the hospice interdisciplinary team – volunteers, nurses, social workers, and bereavement coordinators – to provide assistance during the transition from life through death and to cope with loss and grief. This may be periodic contact or grow into an ongoing relationship lasting weeks, months, or even years. All services are provided free of cost. Hospice care offers people with life-limiting illness the opportunity to live fully. Hospice care also supports families and other loved ones in coping with the impacts and challenges an illness can have on everyone. We also serve patients who are minors. Hospice of Anchorage support may include any or all of the following: -clinical consultations for initial and periodic assessment and education regarding symptom management and end-of-life care -patient and family education about disease progression -assistance with insurance, financial and legal matters, and advance directives (living will, durable power of attorney, and Comfort One) -trained volunteer assistance and support -emotional and spiritual support -bereavement and grief support -community resources and referrals -public and professional education on end-of-life and palliative care issues

Donations made to our agency through the Pick.Click.Give program enable us to provide care and support services to individuals with serious life limiting illness, dying and grief. Our palliative care services are unique as clients served include all ages--infant to elderly. Because of generous community support such as this program, all of our services are free of charge.
