How Pick.Click.Give. makes a difference

According to data from Feeding America as of 2014, the Mat-Su Borough has a population of over 12,000 people who experience food insecurity. Food insecurity refers to USDA’s measure of lack of access, at times, to enough food for an active, healthy life for all household members and limited or uncertain availability of nutritionally adequate foods.

Forty-five percent live below the poverty level. Your generosity provides the much needed food and hot meals to help families make it from week to week. Food insecure households are not necessarily food insecure all the time. Food insecurity may reflect a household’s need to make trade-offs between important basic needs, such as housing or medical bills, and purchasing nutritionally adequate foods.
