Food Bank of Alaska was founded in 1979 by a small group of Anchorage church and community volunteers with a simple vision: prevent good food from going to waste and get it to Alaskans who need it. That mission is just as urgent today. We partner with grocery stores, wholesalers, farmers, producers, and the fishing industry to rescue food that would otherwise be discarded. We also collect community donations and administer state and federal nutrition programs. Together with 150 partner food pantries, soup kitchens, senior centers, and children’s programs, we distributed 7.9 million pounds of food last year. Right now, 1 in 7 Alaskans, including 1 in 5 children, face hunger. Your generosity ensures that families, seniors, and children across Alaska have meals on the table and the dignity that comes with being nourished.
