First Alaskans Institute is an Alaska Native advocacy organization dedicated to the protection and advancement of Alaska Native peoples for the next 10,000+ years. Our work is grounded in Indigenous values that guide collective thinking and solution-making toward a shared future of healthy, thriving communities. We center our community in all we do, from uplifting leadership at every stage of life to advocating for policies that protect our ways of life. Through strategic initiatives in leadership development, language revitalization, and community-driven solutions, we strengthen cultural continuity, advance self-determination, and model Indigenous values in every aspect of our work. As a small organization with a dynamic scope, we leverage the strength and knowledge of our peoples to create measurable impact. Our outcomes include: • Leadership Development: Preparing Alaska Native leaders to influence decision-making in government, business, and community sectors. • Cultural Revitalization: Expanding language programs and intergenerational knowledge transfer to ensure cultural continuity. • Policy Advocacy: Securing legislative and regulatory protections for subsistence rights, sovereignty, and Indigenous lifeways. • Community Engagement: Hosting forums and gatherings that align collective good thinking and foster collaboration across Alaska.
