About

Camp Fire Alaska, Alaska's largest childcare provider, has provided a safe, reliable, and engaging place for families to send their children to for more than 100 years since 1913. In Camp Fire programs, children develop and grow their confidence by challenging themselves, exploring their environment, and building healthy relationships with their peers. Camp Fire supports young people’s aspirations to help them achieve their full potential. Today we are a leader in the youth development field and serve more than 5,000 youth every year through our key programs- After School Program, Summer Camp Programs, Community-based Programs, Teen Programs, and Rural Alaska Program.

1. Empower over 5,000 young Alaskans
Camp Fire Alaska is the state’s largest childcare provider, serving more than 5,000 youth every year after school, during school breaks, and all summer long. Your support helps us continue offering safe, enriching, year‑round programs for Alaska’s kids.

2. Strengthen afterschool care for 650 students
Camp Fire Alaska provides licensed afterschool childcare in 18 Anchorage and Eagle River schools, supporting more than 650 students every day. Our programs help children develop social, emotional, physical and academic skills through fun activities and learning experiences while also providing support to working families.

3. Ignite adventures for youth at three summer camps
Whether it’s overnight adventures at Camp K on Kenai Lake, day camp fun at Camp Fireweed on the APU campus, or Summer Adventure Camp hosted in local schools, Camp Fire Alaska offers unforgettable summer experiences. With outdoor learning, creative play, and lasting memories, there’s a camp experience for every young Alaskan.

4. Foster Alaska’s future leaders
Camp Fire Alaska’s teen leadership programs help youth build confidence, develop career and life skills, and connect with positive mentors. From summer leadership programs at Camp K and Camp Fireweed to our new free teen school year program, we’re creating pathways for teens to thrive.

5. Ensure every child can experience Camp Fire
Camp Fire Alaska understands that circumstances can sometimes put a strain on the family budget— but that shouldn’t keep a young person from experiencing the joy of camp. Camp Fire Alaska offers scholarships for all programs, ensuring every child has access to outdoor adventures, hands-on activities, and lifelong memories.
