The Anchorage Museum sits on the traditional homeland of the Eklutna Dena’ina. The museum is committed to recognizing and honoring the land, culture and language of the Dena’ina people. The Anchorage Museum’s mission is to be a museum for people, place, planet, and potential, in service of a sustainable and equitable North, with creativity and imagination for what is possible. Contributions to the Anchorage Museum Association help cover the costs of mounting world class exhibitions and creating quality education and public programs for students, teachers, visitors and all Alaskans. Contributions also support innovation and new ways of looking at the culture and environments of the North. The Anchorage Museum sees approximately 200,000 visitors per yer.The Anchorage Museum provides educational experiences that enhance understanding and foster curiosity about Alaska and the circumpolar North. The Anchorage Museum is a place to find answers, but more importantly it is a place to develop questions. Education at the Museum is bigger than standards, academic disciplines, and a single pedagogy. Education at the Museum provides experiences that cross boundaries, ignite imaginations, and drive exploration of art, history, culture, and science.
