Alaska Network on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault

Juneau, AK • EIN: 92-0087216

To be a collective voice for victims and support agencies and communities working to eliminate domestic and sexual violence.

About

ANDVSA's mission is to be a collective voice for victims and survivors of domestic and sexual violence and abuse and to support those agencies and communities working throughout our vast and vastly rural state of Alaska to address these issues.

How Pick.Click.Give. makes a difference

With your support, ANDVSA can continue to build a network of support for victims, service providers and those working to prevent violence in Alaska. ANDVSA's primary activities center around four programs: Legal, Prevention, Advocacy and Policy.

• The Legal Program provides essential legal services to victims of domestic and sexual violence. During 2020, the Legal Program staff and volunteer attorneys provided representation in 287 cases. 100% of clients served said they felt safer due to representation from an attorney. One legal client said, "I had lost direction and needed help in recovering from an abusive relationship. I am so thankful that pro bono services are available so that people in relationships can come out of such deep dark places where you feel there is no hope."

• Donations to ANDVSA also support the Prevention Initiative which works to engage youth, men and community coalitions in violence prevention. Though many in-person gatherings had to be cancelled in 2020, the Prevention Initiative continued to support and develop local capacity for prevention by bolstering peer connections and learning, hosting virtual trainings and working with local agencies to adjust their programming in response to safety needs.

• The Advocacy Initiative helps ensure that law enforcement, advocates, medical professionals and other community members have access to relevant trainings and resources on issues relating to domestic and sexual violence. This year, the Advocacy Initiative partner with Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium to bring together domestic and sexual violence programs, mental health providers and substance use disorder programs to learn from each other and develop a "no wrong door" approach for survivors needing multiple types of services.

• Lastly, ANDVSA consistently works to inform policy and legislation and ensure that survivors' voices are heard at all levels of government. As programs adjusted to providing services amidst a pandemic, ANDVSA's Policy Initiative convened meetings between service providers and key decisions makers and experts like Senator Lisa Murkowski and Dr. Anne Zink to ensure that the needs of survivors were considered in the virus response.

By donating to ANDVSA through Pick.Click.Give, you support critical services for survivors and join the movement to prevent violence in our state. Together, we can end violence in Alaska. Thank you for being part of that work.
