Alaska Legal Services Corporation

ALSC expands access to justice by providing civil legal aid that addresses critical needs and creates more equitable systems.
About
Since 1967, Alaska Legal Services Corporation (ALSC) has worked to ensure every Alaskan has access to justice, regardless of income or location. As a nonprofit law firm, ALSC provides free civil legal aid that protects safety, health, housing, and family stability for those who would otherwise face the legal system alone.
ALSC is Alaska’s only provider of free, comprehensive civil legal aid, with 11 statewide offices and two medical-legal partnerships. Services range from legal advice and self-help tools to full legal representation. By solving legal problems early, ALSC stops wrongful evictions, foreclosures, and unfair debt collection. ALSC helps survivors of domestic violence find safety and stability, ensures seniors receive Social Security, and connects veterans with the benefits they have rightfully earned. By keeping families stable, legal aid strengthens Alaska’s economy while reducing costly reliance on emergency shelters, health care, and other strained public systems.
ALSC also offers specialized support for veterans, seniors, and Alaska Native communities, including tribal law services and partnerships that strengthen tribal sovereignty and promote justice in remote regions. On average, ALSC handles more than 5,200 cases each year, impacting over 14,000 Alaskans in more than 200 communities. Supporting ALSC through Pick.Click.Give. helps us build stronger individuals, families, and communities, and ultimately a stronger Alaska.
How Pick.Click.Give. makes a difference
ALSC provides free civil legal aid that protects families, keeps people safely housed (reducing homelessness), and ensures fairness for those who would otherwise face the legal system alone.
Because of supporters like you, Daniel, an Elder living in remote and rural Alaska, was not left to go hungry when his food assistance was cut off. He cares for young children and relies on that support to keep his family fed. When his benefits were unexpectedly stopped for months, he skipped meals, leaned on relatives for food, and even borrowed money for a box of cake mix for a child’s birthday. With ALSC’s help, his benefits were restored, and his family regained reliable access to food.
Stories like Daniel’s show how legal aid strengthens families and communities. By solving civil legal problems early, ALSC prevents greater crises like homelessness, food insecurity, and costly strain on shelters, health care, and other public systems.
Every $1 you invest in legal aid creates about $7 in economic benefits for families and communities. Your support through Pick.Click.Give. helps Alaskans find safety, stability, and fairness when they need it most.
