About Us
We value community engagement, cross-cultural collaboration, professional rigor, and regional voice.The organization serves over 25,000 artists, audiences, and students annually with classical, contemporary, and world premiere productions in Juneau and Anchorage. Each year, the theatre serves over 1,000 individuals through education & training programs.
Perseverance Theatre has been creating professional theatre by and for Alaskans since being founded by Molly Smith in 1979. With the expansion to a full Anchorage season in 2012, Perseverance Theatre now serves between 17,000 - 20,000 artists and audience members annually with classical, contemporary, and new productions on the Juneau main-stage and at the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts; education and training programs for youth and adults; and community engagement with statewide artistic and social service groups.
How Pick.Click.Give. makes a difference
Your support is absolutely vital to the sustainability of Perseverance Theatre. We are privileged to serve the community with top-notch productions, Native talent development, outreach to rural communities, and education programs in which the next generation can be introduced to and fall in love with the theatre arts. Your support enables us to do all this, and we could not do it without you.
Here is an example of the impact your donation can have:
$25 buys two gallons of paint for the mainstage sets;
$50 provides snacks for youth in the Summer Theatre Arts Rendezvous program;
$150 pays an intern’s weekly stipend;
$250 provides a scholarship for a student to an educational program;
$500 covers an actor’s travel within Alaska;
$1000 pays for props for a mainstage show.
In 2018-2019, Perseverance Theatre will produce a full subscription offering in both Juneau and Anchorage, as well as bringing theatre to smaller rural communities, advancing the theatre’s mission to create professional theatre by and for Alaskans.
In a single season, Perseverance reaches over 20,000 audience members, works with over 400 theatre artists, engages more than 500 volunteers, and provides education programming to over 1000 youth and adults.
Thank you for helping make Perseverance a theatre for all Alaskans to enjoy. See you at the theatre!
